PP Arnold is a Legend!
Since she became London’s First Lady of Soul back in the 60’s, she is still going strong! The term “wellestablished”might be appropriate for some artists but it barely begins to cover the career of the phenomenal P.P. Arnold, whose records and performances are now in their Sixth decade. Her consistently excellent music covers multiple genres, her high-profile admirers and collaborators are plentiful. She is one of the iconic faces of London's Swinging 60's. Arriving in England as an Ikette with The Ike & Tina Revue, PP was spotted by Mick Jagger who immediately convinced Andrew Loog Oldham to sign her to his Immediate record label. Several huge hits followed, the best-known being her original version of The First Cut Is The Deepest, Angel Of The Morning and (If You Think You're Groovy). From her early day at Andrew Loog Oldham’s Immediate label (where she “became one of us” according to Andrew) P.P. Arnold has worked with some of the biggest names in music. In the 1960s, she collaborated with Mick Jagger, The Small Faces, Jimi Hendrix, Cat Stevens, Keith Emerson’s The Nice, and Barry Gibb. The 1970s saw her working alongside Eric Clapton, Humble Pie, and Nick Drake. In the 1980s and beyond, she continued her stellar career with Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Beatmasters, KLF, Chaz Jankel, Roger Waters, Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream, The Blow Monkeys’ Dr. Robert, Paul Weller, and The Manfreds.… The list goes on and on. Her session work spans over 5 decades, shaping the sound of R&B, Rock and Roll and Pop. Her own music catalogue includes The First Lady of Immediate, her debut album released in 1968 on the Immediate Records label. Her second album Kafunta for the Immediate label was produced by Andrew Oldham. The Turning Tide is an album of unreleased recordings from the late '60s and early '70s. It was meant to be PP Arnold's third album but wasn’t released until 2017 on Steve Cradock’s Kundalini Record label. In 2019 the long-awaited album The New Adventures of P. P. Arnold produced by Steve Cradock of Ocean Color Scene and with a little help from his friends Paul Weller, Lynval Golding and the Specials horn section was released by Ear Music. Her ‘Live In Liverpool’ album recorded with Steve Cradock musical directing the 2019 PP Arnold New Adventures tour was released in October 2024 to popular acclaim. The very first (and long overdue) career spanning retrospective, a 57 song 3CD set, or 25 song 2LP set featuring singles, album tracks, demos and previously unreleased songs. Released by Demon Records on February 21, 2025 this stylish packaged collection includes new sleeve notes by author Jude Rogers. It is the perfect companion piece to her critically acclaimed autobiography Soul Survivor. After her successful 2022 debut on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, Pat returns for another electrifying solo
performance, thrilling enthusiastic fans once again. Working with Brian Rawlings Metrophonic team with her Christmas single, It Won´t Be Christmas Without You produced by Mark Taylor and Patrick Mascall made No. 1 on Mike Read´s Heritage chart. The paperback version of Soul Survivor was released in 2023 with an original tune that she wrote with her producers Mark Taylor and Patrick Mascall also called Soul Survivor that is available on all digital platforms.
