Pete Brown’s DAY TRIPPER
Wednesday 27th November ‘24
Psychedelic George Harrison & Beatles
Firstly & most importantly, this is not a Beatles tribute or Beatles covers band. Pete Brown is one of the music industry’s most acclaimed recording engineers & guitarists. Pete actually recorded & played guitar with George Harrison. ‘Day Tripper’ - Pete Brown & Carlton Taylor’s musical project performing & reworking The Beatles & George Harrison’s more psychedelic & lesser known songs. For 35 years, Pete Brown has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the music business as a highly respected recording engineer, producer, session player & back up musician. His virtuosity on electric, acoustic & slide guitars, mandolin & ukulele is widely admired. The son of top 60s guitarist Joe Brown & his vocalist wife Vicki. Pete is the younger brother of multi-platinum singer-songwriter Sam Brown.
Throughout his career, Pete has worked with major artists Sade, Dusty Springfield, Status Quo, The Specials, Deep Purple, Courtney Pine, Nick Lowe, Gary Booker, David Gilmour, Marc Almond, The Smiths. As recording engineer Pete worked & played guitar with George Harrison, therefore, apt & exciting that Pete fronts this new project band Day Tripper, performing the more psychedelic & lesser known Beatles & George Harrison numbers. Including 1966 Ravi Shanker sitar sessions, music inspired from The Beatles 1968 trip to Rishikesh in India along with psychedelic re-works on a few Beatles classics. Wednesday 27th November, Pete is accompanied by Carlton Taylor, also vocals & rhythm guitar. Matt Girling on bass & keys, Adrian Dacre from Badly Drawn Boy on drums.
