Pauline Matthews worked at Boots, Bradford and sang with her band in the evenings. Spotted by a talent scout in 1964 & released her first album “I’m Kiki Dee” (Pauline) Kiki became the first UK singer singed to Tamla Motown.
Kiki’s hits include “I’ve got the music in me” “Heart of Gold”, “Can’t take my eyes off of you”, “Loving you is sweeter than ever”, “Amoureuse”, “Start” – which became the theme tune to BBC opportunity knocks. Her duets with Elton John “True Love” & “Don’t go breaking my Heart” went to number 1 of both the UK singles chart & US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976.
Summer 1976 Kiki performed with Queen, at Hyde Park in front of 150,000 crowd a more intimate evening is promised at the Crooked Billet, Stoke row on Wednesday 11th June.
Kiki Dee performed with Elton John at Live Aid 1985. She won an Olivier award for her part in Will Russell’s West End hit Blood Brothers.
English guitarist, writer, composer & producer Carmerlo Luggeri will accompany Kiki. They met in 1994 whilst compiling Kiki’s greatest hits album, they performed a sell-out acoustic show at the Royal Albert Hall and have worked together since, recording 4 acclaimed albums.
Carmelo is also guitarist with Bill Wyman’s “Son’s of Heroes”, previously worked with Andy Williams, Free, Bad Company and Ralph McTell. He created Billy Connolly’s Tour of Australia TV series them re-work of Waltzin Matilda. Was nominated for two Golden Globes for the track “Stealin” for the British Comedy “Still Crazy” Staring Jimmy Nail, Billy Nighty, Timothy Spall & Billy Connolly’s 70’s rock band “Strange fruit”.
Carmel wrote & performed the multi million selling “OK for you” with Julian Lennon.
